School Absentees More Commonly Come From Smoking Households

A new study, recently published in Pediatrics Journal, suggests that children are more likely to be absent from school if they live in a home where at least one person smokes. Based on their research, it is clear that children who live in smoking homes generally miss more time from school than children living in smoke-free homes. This could be due to a number of factors including the increased likelihood of a child who is exposed to second-hand smoke to get a number of respiratory conditions such as broncitis, which could force them to miss time from school.
