Submitting a New Request for Custom Content
To submit a new custom content request, first login to your account. Then, click on the My Requests link. You can coordinate and track all your orders from this page.
Click on New Request when you're ready (note: you can also click the Request Content tab at the top of the screen to get to this screen).
The simple request form lets you give potential writers more details about the content you're looking for. Complete each section as best you can and click Submit when you're happy.
Here is a quick overview of each section:
Choose Content Type
In this section you’ll be asked to choose what type of content you need created and how you would like it sent to the writers.
First, you’ll need to choose what type of content you need created. You can choose from Articles, Blog Posts, Copy Editing, Copywriting, eBooks, Press Releases, Product Descriptions, Review Writing, SEO Content, Social Media Updates, Technical Writing, Web Site Content and White Papers.
Next, you’ll choose which writers you want to work on your request. There are several ways that you can send your request out to the writers depending on who you want to have access to your project and what expertise you’re looking to find. Broadly, requests are grouped into Public Requests and Private Requests.
- Private Requests - requests that are sent directly to one writer or one of your predetermined writer teams. Within Private Requests, there are 2 types of requests you can choose from:
- All Writers – this pulls a list of all writers available for custom writing work on the site and lets you select one to send your request directly to. If you have added writers to your Favorite Writers list, their names will appear at the top of the list.
- My Teams – this pulls a list of all your teams and lets you choose one of them. By choosing one of your teams you’ll make your request available to all members of your team so one of them can claim it. If you need to create a team visit My Projects and create a project for your team to work on.
- Public Requests - requests that are made available to a wide range of writers. Within Public Requests, there are 4 types of requests you can choose from:
- Call For Articles – this will invite every writer on the site to submit articles to you. You’re free to choose the articles that best work for your needs. This is a good option if you need a variety of articles on a broad subject and do not need any specific mention of your company. Any articles you don’t buy will be listed publicly in our catalog after 3 days.
- Targeted Request – this will make your request available to a group of writers selected by our editors for their ability in your chosen content type and allow one of them to exclusively claim and complete it. This is a good option if you need the content tailored to your business and don’t want anyone else to see it.
- If you want your request made available only to writers who live in a specific country, have a specific education, certification, or track record of writing in a certain category you can click on the Advanced Targeting link to choose one of these options.
- Expert Request – this option makes your request available to a team of writers with certifications and experience in your chosen industry that makes them experts. This is the best option if you’re looking to produce highly authoritative content.
- Casting Call – by sending out a casting call you can invite every writer on the site to message you to apply to write for you. This is a great tool if you want to find a writer with a very specific background. With casting calls, you only need to enter a title and brief description of your project and you will be contacted by interested, qualified writers.
Provide Instructions
In this section you’ll describe your request to the writer who will be working on it. Please provide as much detail as possible to enable the writer to ensure your content is exactly what you want it to be.
There are a few fields in this section that warrant some explanation:
- Title - this could be the title of the article you want written, a theme for the writer to follow, a project code, etc. The important thing is you provide the writer a unique title to identify your project.
- Deadline – enter the deadline for the writer to submit the content to Constant Content. Your request will automatically close at this time.
- Description - this is where you provide most of the details of your request. You can enter as much text as you need.
- Subjects - here you can list any subjects you want covered in your content. You can also check the box next to “Divide Request Into Multiple Parts” to add additional subject boxes. This lets different writers claim the different subjects you enter which can speed up delivery time.
- Attach File - you can attach one file when you first submit your request. If you'd like to add additional files, please edit the request from the My Requests page where you can upload additional files.
Set Budget
In this section you’ll set the budget for your request. How you price your request depends on a number of factors including the type of content being written, the word count, the research required and the expertise needed by the writer. For a better idea of how to price your request, click the Typical Prices link in this section for example pricing.
Please note that price range you select is for each item your request. You can request as many items per request as you would like; some clients request hundreds of articles at a time but leave the request open for along time.
Submitting Your Request
Once you’ve completed all required fields, just click the Submit Request at the bottom of the page. Your request will promptly be sent out to the writer(s) you’ve selected and you’ll be notified once they are working on it. Writers will “claim” your request, which indicates to you that they’ve begun work.
If you have a large amount of content to request we have several ways that you can do that without having to enter each one into the form:
- Request multiple items from the writer working on your request - In the budget section of the form you can enter the number of items you need. Just enter the total number you need and include instructions to the writer that specifies what each item should cover and they’ll submit everything to the one request you create.
- Divide your request into multiple parts - You can also choose to divide your request into multiple parts that several different writers can claim. To do this, check the box next to the “Divide Request Into Multiple Parts” field in the Instructions section of the form. This will let you choose how many parts to create, and let you create a custom subject for each part. The different parts will have the same description and budget info, but will have unique subject fields.
Dividing your request into multiple parts allows you to quickly create up to 50 parts to your request that writers can claim and begin work on. This saves time, and can get your request completed faster as your request is available to many writers instead of just one.
- Submit request via a CSV - The above two options will create a single request that will receive multiple content submissions to. If you want to create multiple distinct requests at once, we offer a CSV upload tool. Using the CSV template we provide, enter the details of each request you want create on its own row. Once completed, just upload the file, review the requests created in draft form and make any adjustments, and then submit them. You can create any number of requests this way (we frequently have clients create over 100 at once).
