Writer Biography

Working as a full-time freelance writer for the past five years (and on a part-time basis for more than 20 years before that), I have published several non-fiction books, numerous articles for national magazines and hundreds of book reviews. Through Constant Content, I have listed many spec articles on history, technology and how-to subjects. In addition, working with several Constant Content clients, I have also had the opportunity to work on a wide variety of assigned articles, including several long-term projects. The subjects for these assignments have ranged from product descriptions (personal grooming to firearms), biographical sketches, descriptions of points in interest in various cities and popular history to highly technical pieces on computers and the Internet, medicine, engineering and business practices. On several occasions, I have been responsible for part or all of the content of e-book publications.

As a degreed librarian (MSLS, Columbia University, 1980), I bring rigorous research and bibliographic skills to my writing. I also believe that I have a particular talent for identifying and writing for a variety of audiences, allowing me to offer clients flexibility in writing styles.

Hummingbirds in a Coffee Table Habitat [Book Review]

This complete guide to the hummingbirds of the New World uses photographs instead of artists’ renderings, but the quality of the photographs and the printing makes it work. Each species is given a page – sometimes two – to itself, on which is provided a map, description, range, size and populations status. All of this is provided in a hummingbird-size volume, just right for a very small coffee table.

Lectures From the Food Mommy [Book Review]

Not even up to the standards of a true food fascist, the author offers a weak, wandering and whiny complaint about processed food in America. Biased, yes, but also boring; the book offers little of interest. There is nothing here that hasn’t already been crammed down our throats for years. Save your money and buy a box of cheese poppers and a frozen pizza, instead.
