Maybe a way to manage requests. Maybe if we could flag requests we are interested in and discard the rest or make them display lower on our screen?

Maybe indicate "new" requests too. Many times the email doesn't arrive in time...

Yes, there does seem to be a lag time between the requests and the emails sent. I'll be approving, wondering why I'm getting so many of a certain type of article . . . and then I find the request in the inbox later.

The CC Banners

Post by anarch »

Not sure if you noticed this or not, but the really flashy bright orange banner has tutorials spelled incorrectly. Might want to fix that oops :)

wow... fixed thanks. Keep the requests coming many are already implemented on the new site. I decided the "Make Offer" will be up to the writer per article, they will check a check box.

Can't wait until the new site is up and running - all of these suggestions and changes sound wonderful! Especially taking the submission date off the articles. :D

Very exciting stuff!

If it isn't that way, can I tweak it on my blog so that it is?
As long as the link points to your author affiliate link. So it would look like this:

<a href="http://www.constant-content.com/?aref=2276"><img src="http://www.constant-content.com/banners ... 68x60C.gif" width="468" height="60" border="0"></a>

Some of the things we are working on:
Better order process
Article submission

Looking for more.
Was submitting an article today, and it struck me that it might be a nice idea to have a "submit an article " link right below the request for the writers. These go to your system on priority for editor clearance, and when the editors ok them, they appear on the request page itself. This way the requested articles automatically get cleared on priority.

This also saves time gap between your approval and the writer's submission to the client, (because we writers may not be awake sometimes when the article is okayed :) ) and it can make a difference in urgent orders.

Not sure if this will be too complicated ?

My 2 cents

Post by Ellen Russell »

I understand what I'm about to suggest has some innate drawbacks; it's just something off the top of my head.

How about requiring a small deposit from new requesters? Nothing huge, basically a good faith gesture to indicate we might really have some purchases result from requests we have worked hard to fill. Lately, we're being inundated with requests, some quite specific and not very resale-able (making up words as I go along). We have several right now, but no purchases being made. Maybe if it cost a few bucks to ask us to work our little behinds off people would post only with good intentions of actually buying these articles.

Any deposit could be refundable if a purchase is made (i.e., go towards the purchase cost of the article, etc.) and I intend this only to be used for new clients. Returning clients who have previously bought articles can usually be trusted as using the site with the intention of really completing a purchase, not just weeding out what they can get.

Just an idea, but maybe then we could focus our efforts on what might actually pay.

Corrections

Maybe someone could edit the "sold" email? It has misspellings and each one says my articles have sold as 'usage' when they are usually sold for unique or full rights. I have to log in to find out what an article really sold for. I don't mind doing this, it's a little like Christmas...but if a standard email is sent for all sales, it would be better to just say an article sold, log in for license details, etc.

(Okay, today you got my 4 cents ;) )

(At the risk of stating the obvious)

Does this mean along with setting a price we can check a box if we are willing to take offers/negotiate a price? Great option to have! I wonder if this will create a lot of underbidding on our work (i.e. hang a sign on me...'Will work for pennies'), but if it doesn't work we can just opt out of it. On the other hand, it could sell some articles that are only passed over for price. Sounds like a good compromise!

A way to give private requester's first dibs on the articles they have requested. This happened to me today, the article sold to someone else before I even knew it was approved. Not fair to the requester who is waiting patiently for his article!

Here are a few things that I would like to have. Some have already been suggested - in these cases I'm just agreeing *grins*

-Ability to edit article titles.

-I'd love to be able to prioritize the requested content. If I'm not interested in the request that's at the very top of the category, I'd like to shuffle it to the end - or remove it from my screen altogether.

-When I use Photobucket to upload photos, I can list multiple files before I click on "Upload." I'd like to be able to do that here - i.e. find all three or four versions of the same article (Word, PDF, whatever) before I upload. I know that we can zip the files, but I'm not a big fan of doing that.

Those are just the things that I can think of right now. I'm sure that I'll remember something else :)
