price versus what author receives

This is a very basic quesion --sorry, but I'm brand new here (like 30 minutes or so browsing around).
It says the author receives 50%--
When requests include approximate price, let's say, someone wants an article on gerbils and wants to pay $50, I'm assuming that's $25 for CC and $25 for the author?
Or is this amount already halved?
