Yes, you will be notified of rejections.
The approval/rejection process seems to vary a lot in length. I've had some articles approved almost instantly and waited about a week for others. I think it depends on how many articles there are in front of yours in the editing queue, which you can't know in advance of submitting (annoyingly!). I'm don't think that there is a difference in the time it takes to be approved vs the time to be rejected, but perhaps someone more experienced here could confirm that.

I had one denied the other day in a matter of minutes for formatting. I forgot to change the blasted font. I'm guessing the editors have automated that due to the super quick response.
