Why was this article rejected?

Post by Peggy »

I submitted this article three times. Twice I was told to check my capitalization. The second time I submitted it, I explained that I just could not find my error. I checked with the sites the editors suggested and couldn't find anything that pertained to my problem. I think that the problem is with the way that I capitalized "Texas Hold'em Poker." I googled that specific name and found two sites. One said the proper capitalization was "Texas Hold'em Poker." The other said, "Texas hold'em poker was right.

I submitted my article a third time and told them what I found. I asked the editors if they could give me a hint about what they wanted. Instead they rejected my article and told me to not resubmit it. Can you tell me why. What did I do wrong? Why do the editors not want to help me? I am trying to find the error.

Online poker is a lot of fun for those who know the game. However, it can be a frustrating experience for a novice to just grab a chair and hope to learn while playing. It is best to take a little time, studying the rules before entering a virtual casino.

Texas hold'em is the most widely played poker game online. It is a relatively new variation of poker but it is by far the most popular. Online poker games usually follow the Texas hold'em rules.

Before dealing begins, the two players at the dealer's left put out blind bets. The player immediately beside the dealer makes the small blind. Then the player next to him puts out the big blind.

Next every player gets two "hold" cards, face down. Moving clockwise, the third player makes his bet. He has the advantage of being able to see two of the five cards he will try to make a hand of. Based on what he sees, he can call, raise or fold. The action continues around the table until everyone makes his first bet.

Then the dealer puts three cards (called "the flop") out on the table, face up. Every player then has a chance to look at his two hold cards and decide how they will combine with the flop to make a hand. Everyone at the table gets a chance to bet again.

The dealer puts a fourth card on the table and everyone bets again. Then a fifth and final card is added to the flop. The betting goes around again.

Finally everyone who hasn't folded shows their hand and how they would use the cards in the flop to combine with their hold cards. The best hand wins the pot. If the five cards face up on the table make up the best hand, the pot is evenly divided among the remaining players.

I just looked at other articles about poker that have been accepted and are now posted for sale on this site. I see a wide range of capitalization styles. One writer talks about playing Poker, while the next plays poker. An article about Texas Hold'em is followed immediately by another article about Texas hold'em. I'm confused, but the good news is, so is Constant Content.

Hi Peggy,

What an interesting and complicated topic you chose! I think you should consider who your audience is if you want this article to be more successful. For example, what are 'blind bets', 'big blind', 'flop', 'call', 'raise' and 'fold'? IT is written as though you assume your readers know the meaning of these words, but I think more explanations are needed. I agree with capitalizing Texas Hold'em too. Hope that helps!
