Agreed, but then again I've sold some pretty surprising stuff in the past. If inspiration strikes and you can throw something together fairly quickly then go for it - you never know

Re: so how are sales these days?
Catalog sales for me are decent this month. Not spectacular, but an uptick compared to February and especially January. Judith - I agree. The more I write, the more I sell. Simple as that. That's an enviable sales ratio you have BTW :D Words4Bread - if you wait on editor approval before submitting n...

Re: Lack of Oxford Comma = Millions of $$$
Hah, well done the drivers.
I always use the Oxford/serial comma. I don't mind reading stuff that doesn't, but what annoys me is where it's used only sporadically when it's needed "for clarity". Either use it or don't I say

Re: Egotistical Editor?
If it's the editor I recognise, then I assume the stuff between the //--//s is to be deleted? If it's the same one, I quite often get back articles that are a kaleidoscope of colors and slashes, and after doing the edits, it's basically a complete rewrite. I never get that amount of grief off other ...

Messaging Mayhem
I was trying to send a web address to a customer to show the source I was working from. I got an email back from the system, saying: Our system has noticed that you have sent contact information through out our email system. Please be cautious when making transactions outside constant content. Const...

Re: Repeated No-Pay Clients
It happens, but that's pretty bad luck to get three in a row. Disheartening.
FWIW, and I'm sure you do this anyway, but I only take on requests that are either very straightforward, or are generic enough to go into the catalog if unsold.

Re: Mystery of Disappearing Article
Hmm. I've had several pieces accepted and sold at 2.5k+ words, albeit for requests. Do you still have the rejection notification to hand?
Thanks

Re: Writer Pool Expired Question
Just as an aside, I always use the 'complete' option just for my own benefit, to get the request out of the queue as soon as I've submitted it for review. I'm not sure if that's the official way of using it, but I've never had any problems.

Re: Mystery of Disappearing Article
Did you get any indication of what the upper limit is? I can't find anything in the guidelines. Just asking, as I have a few 'bare bones' drafts which are already pushing 1k words, and they could easily get quite large...

...and if you're not lucky, you'll have to go down the delete/resubmit route, and then get in a tussle with an editor who objects to loads of stuff the previous editor was happy with

Re: 2017 Writing Goals
Main goals: 1) Ramp up the catalog submissions, my last few months have shown it really does seem to be a numbers game. 2) Pull my finger out and finish more of the 450-ish drafts I have lying around. 3) Find new ways to diversify income. Although always easier said than done. 4) Explore a new ventu...

Re: Constant Content Suggested Pricing
I used to spend quite a lot of time playing with pricing, but I came to the conclusion my time was better spent writing. Pricing low didn't seem to greatly increase the number of sales, it just made them come a bit sooner, if that makes sense. I now just price at a level that makes it worth my hours...

Re: Quiet times here at Constant Content?
I look at 10 views as an average before sale, but that's not scientific. And of course it can vary hugely either way... When I had less articles in the catalogue I'd start reducing the prices if they got to 20 views without a sale, but tbh that just got too time consuming, so now I just set and forg...
