Re: Always this slow?
Don't be discouraged. I haven't written a lot of articles here, but my sales are better when I remain active. I have several pieces that have been up since I first joined. I get a nice surprice when one sells out of the blue.

Re: Average Review Times and Revisions.
It's not unusual to wait five-plus business days for an article to be accepted or rejected. There are times it can take a good long while to get an article through if there are large requests on a popular subject. When revising an artile it'll have to go through the same process as getting it initia...

Re: Have Pay Periods Shifted?
For the last couple of months the 15th has fallen on a Friday with a holiday closely following. I'd recommend budgeting for the 2nd or 3rd, and the 16th or 17th. Anything from federal to bank holidays can delay transactions. Two other online sites that I get paid on regularly aren't coming out until...

Re: Rejection email
Penny, The editors go through so many articles that they can't give every reason for an article being rejected. They'll reject and send it back at the first error - with a general reason. If you didn't get the email about it you may need to check your spam folder in your email account. I went throug...

Re: When are articles written for public requests released?
No actually. I was away for a while, and am quite surprised. I'd guess that a lot of our writers are experiencing the crush of what Google Panda has done to hits on websites. Quite a few writers here also write a lot of other places.

Re: When are articles written for public requests released?
Depends on the request. Three days is average, but it could take longer if the request is for a large number articles. Basically, in order to be released the customer has to come on and approve or disapprove of your article. In most cases don't look for your article to go into the general pool until...

Re: gender-neutral "they"
Good question. I use a conversational tone when writing a lot of my articles. I'll tell you from the PC side of the road... It's okay to use "she" for anything. I'm partial to "he/she" if absolutely needed but newer editors will probably kick it back. I use "you" most o...

Re: full text or excerpt?
You'll find a lot of different answers. Many writers put at least 2/3. I don't know any who put up their whole articles unless it's for a private request. I'd recommend just posting the lead-in and just enough to hook someone in. Think of a how-to article as an example. First you talk about the prod...

Double check to make sure it didn't sell for full rights. Next, if it was altered, contact support. Customers also have obligations to meet when purchasing from CC.

Re: Are CC's standards slipping?
Take something simple like removing a piece of software in Windows 7 as an example. There are several ways you could write it. Click on Start at the bottom of the page, scroll over to Control Panel and click it. Once there click on Uninstall a Program. Scroll through the list until you find the prog...

Re: Are CC's standards slipping?
Hey there! Just a few hours ago, I got an article rejected for using a space after a slash. The universe is in perfect order. Although I'm sure you didn't find it funny thanks for the laugh. I wonder how a technical writing article would do here without a public/private request. Not about tec...

Re: Are CC's standards slipping?
I'm not sure Kaytee, but I don't think so. I remember why I've been absent for so long. After CC brought in the new batch of editors I was saddened by what I saw. Kids taught in the new school of writing were pretty much taking over. I've seen it on too many websites. I was hoping that the new batch...

Re: Bullet points - again
I had more than a few rejections when I first started because of formatting problems with Word. I used to copy/paste all my articles into Notepad before copying them onto the site. I'd write an article about setting up your default settings in Word 2010, but without pictures it doesn't mean much to ...
