Run-on obsession?

I edit articles for a friend as well as writing my own, though I haven't submitted for a while (slacking, slapped wrists!). Just recently, he's been getting TONS of "run-on sentence" rejections. In every case, it's a sentence with a conjunction (usually "and"), such as "Inde...

Re: Resubmission form "quirks"

I don't think so: it did it years ago and it still does it now. The changes in browsers over that time would likely negate any individual weirdness (except for IE, of course).

Re: Resubmission form "quirks"

I'm used to it now. I resubmit the file first then write in all my changes. That method works without any dramas. The top file is always the newest. I, too, was used to it until I was away for a while. Coming back reminded me of all the annoying quirks - and getting used to them isn't really the an...

Resubmission form "quirks"

I may have asked this a couple of years ago when it first drove me completely nuts but I'm going to ask now, in case I didn't... would it be possible to fix the incredibly infuriating resubmission form, please? Here are just a few of the annoyances: Reattaching documents doesn't update any details, ...

Re: A Question of Titles

That does indeed help a lot, thanks. As you may have guessed I don't enjoy marketing and SEO, so flailing incompetently in an attempt to find a title that will sell is not something I want to spend a lot of time on if it's not helpful. Like you, I try to come up with something better than "An a...

A Question of Titles

I've been doing this online freelance writing thing for a while now (getting on for three years) but most of my work outside of CC has been ghostwriting. I seem to spend all my time vomiting marketing spiel all over the place. Eww, it's horrid. Anyway, what I wondered is whether an article's title o...

Re: Use of the "singular 'they'" becoming acceptable?

Personally, I almost always use it. It's standard here in the UK and I find it much friendlier than always typing "he" and feeling crappy about excluding women. Silly and politically correct, I know, but it really does bug me.

Saving time and rejections

Having had just about every article rejected on first submission - though always for tiny things that make me want to kick myself - I wondered if there's a particular set of settings one can use in Word's built-in grammar checker to save hassle. Obviously I don't expect the software to catch every m...
