Re: Do you usually reject low offers?

Celeste, You're the best! I took part of the afternoon off from writing and set up my spreadsheet. I tried some Apple software called Numbers that I'd never tried before, and found it to be a lot more intuitive than Excel--even making the formula for the "date submitted minus date sold" wa...

Re: Do you usually reject low offers?

Lysis, congrats on selling your second article! Stay strong and keep rejecting the lowballers. The idea of article farming just makes me mad. Grrrr... Celeste--your words were really helpful. When I break it down that way it makes a lot of sense. Thanks! I was wondering...you mentioned you use a spr...

Re: Do you usually reject low offers?

I had my first sale this morning! Woohoo! So, it was a 300-word article that the buyer offered $25 for full rights--lower than my asking price. But, on reviewing my pricing, I realized I'd priced a tad high, and I would still make 6 cents a word at the buyer's price (after C-C's cut). I was in a rea...

Re: Do you usually reject low offers?

Karl--welcome to C-C! It's good to meet another newbie. Interesting that Karlonia made you a lowball offer too. After rejecting that one, I still haven't received another offer for any of my articles, but I don't regret rejecting it. In fact, I feel really good about all the work I've been putting i...

Re: Small Update to Article Submissions

I really like the categories as one big list. As a new writer here, I was finding myself having to search for the right sub-category every single time I make a submission. This way is much easier, thanks for changing it!

Re: Can this be a full time job?

Barry, thanks so much for explaining I can sell Helium articles for usage only here! Very excited to know I was mistaken about that. Off to Helium to edit some articles and bring them up to C-C quality!

Re: Can we get an "Are You Kidding Me? Take a Hike" button?

I didn't even realize it was possible to look at the hits...this is really helpful! I found how you can see it on each article individually by clicking "edit," but is there a way to see a list of all your articles with the hits instead of having to look at them one by one? And, just wonder...

Re: Can this be a full time job?

I was writing for Helium also, and the most I made was $65 in the Marketplace. However, I can never sell that article again, nor any of my articles on Helium....even the ones that aren't making a penny! I never really understood the difference between full rights and usage, and now that I do, C-C is...

Re: Appropriate Quotes

I'm blanking on his name, but a very funny crotchety old poet who came to the Naropa University summer writing workshop used to say, "If you don't have a pencil, use a piece of charcoal. If you don't have a piece of charcoal, use a bloody finger."

Re: Do you usually reject low offers?

Hey Lor, Emma and Shery, Your advice helped. I feel better about rejecting the offer now....I am worth more than $6! (RAAAWR!!!) I understand more clearly now how bylines and usage rights work, so thanks for that explanation. No more offers yet....but I will keep writing and posting and hope for the...

Do you usually reject low offers?

Hello everyone, Only a few hours after my first articles were accepted to C-C, I was absolutely thrilled to receive an offer for one of them! I was so excited! However, the client is offering only $6 for usage rights and my asking price was $20. I think I'm going to refuse it because $6 just seems s...

Re: Introducing myself--hello!

Celeste and Emma, thanks for the nice welcome. I've got two articles in review and am holding off on submitting a third until I know the status--what if they were all rejected at the same time and I lost my chance to submit anything else! :P In the meantime I've been browsing the forums and looking ...

Introducing myself--hello!

Hello dear CCers, So glad to have stumbled across this website. I've been writing at Helium off and on for a few months, and although I did sell one article there the masses of highly-ranked poor writing can be...well, disheartening! I'm half-and-half American-Portuguese, now living in Nepal, with a...
