Re: Baffled by formatting.

Usually those marks are the result of encoding issues - the text is encoded in a format not compatible with the editor's text editor. I believe Notepad in Windows uses ANSI encoding by default. I know I have the same issue sometimes when sending text messages from my phone to email - the email progr...

Re: Alternatives to CC

Sales seem to be on a low swing right now, but it's not the first time. I've looked around for CC alternatives to expand into, but I haven't found any with the same business model, which is one that I like. If you're trying to support yourself, you definitely need to sell in as many markets as possi...

Re: Article rejected and account suspended - UNFAIR!

Typically, an account will be suspended that quickly only if it's riddled with misspellings and grammar issues and shows a lack of proofreading. I can't say for sure that's the case without seeing the article in question, but you may want to go back through it and look for misspellings, capitalizati...

Re: To mention 'introduction' and 'conclusion' as headline

I've never included any titles or headers in my document. Your introduction and conclusion should clearly stand out on their own without being labeled as such. If you do include any headers, they should not be part of the wordcount as they are not part of the content.

Re: Massive content theft

I couldn't find any of my articles on the site, but the topics I've been doing recently don't look like they would fit in what that site wants. CC's support should be able to help you send a DMCA takedown notice, or you could always send one yourself. If the content owner doesn't respond appropriate...

Re: Post to one category only?

It's best to only submit it to one category, otherwise if it's accepted multiple times then you may have multiple people trying to buy unique or full rights, which would lead to you violating the license. You may also get flagged for plagiarizing yourself. The right thing to do is choose the categor...

Re: What if a client specifically requests 1st person?

In general, client requests take precedence over general CC rules, as long as you're submitting it specifically for that request (and not into the general pool). I can't say for sure what happens if the client doesn't accept your request and it's released into the general pool.

Re: Question about review

It still varies, same as ever. Within the past month, I've had articles take as long as a week or as short as overnight. The average seems to be around two to three days. I have noticed that if you submit a number of articles over a week, they tend to get reviewed all about the same time. In January...

Re: How long before articles appear in category?

I wouldn't worry too much about low sales recently. Sales tend to go in a cycle. You may have a few poor months followed by several months of selling almost everything.

Re: But that comma was needed to prevent a run-on sentence..

I think you need to understand the market as much as the rules. CC's primary customer base are web articles and blogs. Although the basics rules will always apply, sometimes you need to break or bend some of the rules in order for it to "look" right to the readers, which will largely be Jo...

Re: But that comma was needed to prevent a run-on sentence..

I wouldn't consider it a run-on sentence because it's two halves of one thought. Essentially, it's an imperative in two parts joined by a conjunction. The first part is telling the reader to slow down and the second part is telling them what to do after they slow down. If you break it into two disti...

Re: My articles have been rejected and my account suspended

If your account was suspended, then all of your articles are no longer for sale. However, you do retain the rights to them and of are free to sell them elsewhere. You still need to abide by the terms of any sales that you did make (usage/unique/full rights). I have to ask what their rude message was...

Re: Please can we have some common sense!

We still retain the copyright when selling for unique rights. However, part of the sale is an agreement that we won't let anyone else license our copyright. If we didn't retain the copyright, then clients would be free to do whatever they want with the article, up to and including taking credit for ...

What would they be waiting for? "Review" covers articles in editors' queue.

Re: Pay

Just to clarify, was your article accepted or sold? If it was sold, is the balance still showing up in your CC account? I opt for the monthly payment, which is during the first week of the month. The only other option I see is semi-monthly. You also need to meet the payment threshold of $5 before bei...
