Re: Thinking of Ed with laughter
Sorry to hear about your leaky basement, Sharion. I just had to find a bucket for a leaky roof.

Re: Why the long review time?
There are reasons, which don't make your expectations reasonable or unreasonable, but it helps to understand the article review process so you'll know what to expect. If you submit an article for a public or private request, the review time is much shorter. Ed gives these higher priority, since purc...

I was partial to Cary Grant's witty telegraph reply. "How you?"
How you, Debbi, Ed?

Re: New fiction novelist in our midst?
I think that's why a forum like this is so valuable to freelance writers. The camaraderie and encouragement help meet any gaps between self motivation and the paycheck.

New fiction novelist in our midst?
I'm reading "Apologize, Apologize" by Elilzabeth Kelly. Does anyone know if she is one and the same as the CC author by the same pen name? (I've only just begun the book, but so far it's fantastic.)

Re: What to do when customer removes byline?
Try contacting Support and ask if they will intervene for you.
That's really odd that the customer would take the trouble to remove your byline just to say "anonymous." Did you include your byline in the document?

Re: Word Count
I loved that book too, Debbi. His sample manuscript, where he showed his mark-throughs and corrections, was really helpful. I need to read it again. It's really hard to do, but I try to follow the advice of cutting whatever I think is particularly cute. Several people have said that - Mark Twain com...

Re: Word Count
I would just look for extraneous words to cut, or ways to condense, as you mentioned, but not so much that info is lost. If the customer requested a lot of information within 500 words it's hard to know which is more important.

Re: Apple iPad
The learning curve of all things tech today is, well, daunting. I liked Celeste's analogy to language. In high school and college I took German (my dad grew up in a German town in TX), which after school I promptly forgot and never used again. Later, when I went through the total-immersion/in-countr...

Re: A Talk About Keywords
Thanks for those tips, Elizabeth, they were helpful. I assumed that if the singular were listed, the plural would pop. It will be interesting to see if there is a difference in sales, or at least views.

I've heard that ad as well. I heard it on NPR I think, so it's getting nationwide coverage. It would be nice if it was our CC.

Hi Evelyn! Welcome to CC, and I look forward to "seeing" you here on the forums. I drink a very unhealthy cream-loaded coffee every morning, but I've cut back to just one. Still, I'd love to push off a cat and have a cup of cyber coffee and a chat. (I do love cats. Our 3 decorate our kitch...

Re: Request a Bit of a Turnoff?
Hi Melissa, I've been turned off by a few public requests, but this one didn't bother me. And not just because she's bought my work. :) I understand why she put it that way. She's actually doing us a favor by specifying exactly what she wants. Even though she mentioned my name, I haven't tackled any...

Good to "see" you both. Antonia, how is the writing going during your travels? I would think beaches like that, and Australia in general, would be highly distracting.
Have fun,
