Another Grammar Question or Two

I'm brushing up on proofreading and grammar hoping to gain business that way. Maybe even become certified. Anyhow, I'm studying a new guidebook by the Canadian Editors' Association and this sentence was in their document. I feel if I'd sent this in to CC they would have said it was a run-on sentence...

Re: Questions about Requested Content

They mean the PC Unleashed site. Yes, the risk you take writing for a public request is they may not buy it. If they don't, your article is put into the general pool. You could raise the price if you felt like it at that point. For instance, say someone only wanted to pay $20. If it's put into the g...

Re: Rejection of "Which Tablet Will You Buy This Christmas"

I agree with Celeste. Rephrase it by giving less superfluous wording. Also when you say "you need to" it can be off-putting. The same goes with the words "you should". Those are "control" words that come across as bossy. I think you understand what you want to say but y...

Re: Making lots of stupid mistakes! Brain freeze?

Hire me, hire me...lol Yes we all make stupid mistakes. I make them on my Facebook posts, Blogs, you name it too and it is embarrassing at times. I rely a lot on spell check too and when I don't have it can't spell worth heck. I usually try to leave it a day and read out loud. I'm astonished what I ...

Re: How Do You Close Your Account?

I'm sure you can delete your articles if you'd like and use them elsewhere. I'd suggest you wait longer though to see if they eventually sell. When I've had rejections I know my editing isn't going well. Try waiting a day and then read it out loud. It does wonders to read it out loud. Rejections hur...

Grammar Blocks

I checked the difference between using "into" and "in to" but am still questioning this. It's not my writing but someone's I saw. "and try to tie it into a bigger trend" My first hunch was to say "in to" because you can't put something into a trend. What do yo...

Not sure of the context of what you need but maybe: In Dropping Acid: The Reflux Diet Cookbook & Cure, researcher and reflux expert Jamie Koufman, M.D. and New York Times “Top Doc” Jordan Stern, M.D. say, “An estimated 100 million Americans ... don't even know they have it.” In the book, "D...

Re: Rejected!

I'm not going to take the time to go back and read the guidelines but I will say that there are a few things to keep in mind: a) write with a target audience in mind (usually purchased for online magazines, website or blog content...with the goal of the buyer being able to create customer loyalty an...

Re: Public request deadline today

That is one reason I rarely do those. Also, someone usually gets in before me.

The person may come back and look for more on the same theme later so you may get lucky.

Bold

Are we allowed to use bold yet/at all? I'd like to be able to bold point headings sometimes.

Recently Searched Keywords

A moment ago I was on a page where I could see most recently searched topics and now I can't find that page. All these new changes will be helpful. Is there a page that shows categories that have a lack of supply?

Re: Newbie with a pricing question.

I rarely list my usage below $15.

I sometimes base my price on how long it took me, rather than how many words. Sometimes the shortest things take more research and are the darndest things to edit. Also I'll see what's selling. Look in the "Recently Sold" section.

Re: Newbie with a pricing question.

your pricing for full sounds like the commonly paid price. I usually put my usage lower because the idea is it can sell often and they won't want to pay as high for something used elsewhere. I only add unique if I want self-promotion--to make a name for myself, which is like never. I sometimes put i...

Re: What should i expect?

Derrick, Good for you looking for creative streams of income. I would suggest you set some time for writing but also go out and look for odd jobs (like yard work, pizza delivery, office cleaning or whatever) while you apply for longterm jobs every day. Does this mean you get no unemployment pay? The...

Re: POSTING TWO THIRDS OF ARTICLE

Yes you can either post just a third or the entire thing. I usually post the entire thing, but from time to time I see articles that sound a lot like mine so if the first part is unique enough I will only post a portion to protect my stuff. Don't worry so much. Just resolve you won't be broken heart...
