Perl script for pricing content

In case I'm not the only one running in a *nix environment, I thought I'd post this Perl script I use to price my content. For those of you who aren't programmers, it's just a little program that counts the words in a text file and calculates a price based on your target cost per word. Anyway, here'...

Re: How to Sell More Articles

If that happens, Jtillman, you can take the article off of CC and submit it to Triond. You might be able to make a bit of money from that, although admittedly it would be much less than the article would sell for here. I've come to realize that as far as I know, CC pays the most for your writing. It...

Re: Article summary sent in rejection email

I know, I will in the future. I just figured this would take about 1 line of PHP to add.

Article summary sent in rejection email

It would be great to have the short summary we write sent to us via email in the event that the article is rejected. I always have the article saved somewhere else, but the short summary I usually don't and sometimes I really like what I've written, only to find that it's lost if the article is reje...

Re: Using "You" in Articles - What are Your Thoughts?

I use "you" a lot, since most of my articles are instructional in nature. I'm sure there's some second person in every one of them, and, since I used to run my own blog, I find it comes more naturally to me to write that way. I wouldn't use it in an essay, but most web articles aren't essa...

Re: How to Sell More Articles

Is it even worth it to price a full rights article at $30? Most of the articles I write are in the 500-800 word range, and the typical prices for them are much higher. Is it just that these typical prices aren't up to date with the current market, or am I still fine using them?

Re: Constant Content Gets an Update

I have noticed that a lot of the buttons on various pages have text that runs over onto a new line or past the end of the button. Seems like y'all might want to fix that.

Re: Longer post limit in the forum

That seems reasonable. There probably needs to be some form of limit to prevent abuse, but right now it is set quite low. While I tend to type short posts (at least on this forum), I have noticed that many people seem to run over, especially when they're trying to offer comprehensive and helpful adv...

Longer post limit in the forum

I think one thing we could really use is the ability to write longer posts in the forum. After all, this site is populated by a bunch of more or less prolific writers, and it just seems silly to limit each post. I haven't been on any other forum with such a limit in recent memory, and seeing all the...

Does anyone else see this?

In the Recently Sold Articles list, the same article about creating a website was just sold twice in a row, both full rights licenses. What's up?

Re: Inbox and Best Offers to Show Number of Messages

I second this suggestion. I can't imagine it would be hard to implement (especially for the inbox), and it would be very nice.

Also, am I the only one who sees that the text of Recently Sold Content runs over the Edit My Account box in the left menu?

Re: Plain text file rejected - "Font Too Small"

I understand wanting to have a larger font, my eyesight is far from perfect so I tend towards bigger text myself. Whatever is making the file display too small for you must be on your end. I can't think why it would happen this way, perhaps the program you used had last opened another file that was ...

Re: Plain text file rejected - "Font Too Small"

It's just that I'd prefer to submit them as plain text because I feel that makes life easier for customers. All my previous articles (about 7 I think, I'm a newbie here) were submitted in plain text and have gone through fine. Whoever my editor was, the fact that his text editor was showing 10pt fon...

Try your trick, then view the file in Notepad on another computer. You'll find that it displays all files in whatever font the user happens to have set it to. All you are doing is changing the interface font.

Plain text file rejected - "Font Too Small"

I'm having trouble processing this rejection I just got: "10pt Times New Roman is too small for adequate review of submissions. Our guidelines state that we require 12 pt Times New Roman. Please try saving in another one of our accepted file types because your txt files default to 10pt font. Th...
