I've not used encyclopedia.com but surely the point of WIKIpedia is that it is a WIKI. They are, by definition, an open source of information. It even says on the homepage that anyone can edit it. Imagine all the lunatic Internet surfers in the world and then imagine that you're entrusting your refe...

You'll have a fantastic time, it's an incredible place to visit. A good time to get some travel writing done as well, I would have thought.

Blinding topic. Rating would make the site feel like scriptlance (am I allowed to use that word?) and if you write an article that an individual doesn't like you could easily get stiffed for it. How about a Constant Content Wallet instead? Buyers could add favourite authors to their wallet and they ...

The newsletter is an excellent idea, as are the competitions. The prize money can be gained by selling advertising, I mean there are 2500+ authors and a newsletter being distributed to that many means you can sell advertising space at an absolute premium, believe me. 2500 writers, how targeted can y...

...and bring on the 28 new servers you're going to need. How many articles are on site at the moment? I would imagine the bandwidth and disk usage is pretty high already and if you add a Q&A to each article that's going to erupt. The more you put on site like that, the slower everything will bec...

Carpe, are you a politician? For non-US citizens it is basically pointless using Associated Content because they won't pay us.

However, another Brit here, and I get paid all fine and dandy guvnor.

Chris (CC Chris). Why don't you send information like this to writers on a weekly basis, so they know what there best chances are of success on the site. Presumably not all 600 writers write purely for the requested content. If you need a sad mathemtician to work out the figures, you know where I am.

Flogging a dead horse

Ok, I'm not trying to jump on you Chris, but I'm pointing out that while 2000 word articles are what you're after they're not what most people on this site are looking for. There are 10 requests on site at the moment (2 of which are yours). They are: 2 articles @ 1000-2000 CHRIS 50 @ 250-300 Ongoing...

I'm not doubting he's a succesful website owner, but I know that I personally would head straight for the x if I saw a page with 3000 words of rambling nonsense on. And, even if it isn't rambling nonsense, I'd automatically assume it is. I'm not a succesful website owner, but I am a typical website ...

It's me again, on the scrounge for ways to get more work (aren't I always?). I've got a good client base now of repeat offenders (I mean orders) but most are websites and websites only. Don't get me wrong, I do appreciate the work that comes from them but waiting for them to find me or advertising t...

Thanks for the guide, although presumably if you're requesting content then you'll state what length article you're after? Personally speaking I wouldn't read 5 pages of website content when I visited a site. Not even if it was something I was interested in, and according to the clients I do work fo...

Thanks for the words of warning, Chris. In my defence, though, I do SEO work, web marketing and link exchanges etc... (diversification is survival. survival is key) as part of my freelance and can promote a site very well (I generalised it all in the term Admin, which berates the actual work, I know...
