YANKEE GONE HOME, PANAMA AND THE US LEGACY
Overall the future for Panama looks good. They have a stable Government at last. There is economic growth, and although wealth redistribution remains a problem it is no more than elsewhere in the region. The canal provides a steady solid source of revenue. This can be reinvested in new ventures such as international banking and as noted tourism. It took a long time and the road was hard but Panama has finally become more than a transit point between two oceans

WELCOME TO THE HOTEL CALIFORNIA HONDURAN STYLE,COPAN RUINS HONDURAS
Even if your pocket book can stand something a little more upscale though, I still recommend Hotel California and its rustic charm. Even if you dont like roughing it, you can endure for one night.

VICTOR HUGO INTERNATIONAL AIRPORT, ACAPULCO
Acapulco is a major tourist destination and has been so for many years. Its also a large city in its own right. Therefore it stands to reason that it rates a modern and efficient airport.

TULUM, CLIFF TOP RUINS ON THE MEXICAN RIVIERA
There is a brief moment when the group of tourists wanders out of the cameras viewfinder. For a few seconds the ancient Castillo looks, as it must have to the Mayans, impressive and imposing on the cliff overlooking the clear turquoise waters of the Caribbean. The image is fleeting as another group of tourists following their guide wanders into view and the spell is broken. I quickly press the shutter before it is.

TEMPLES IN THE MIST, TIKAL GUATEMALA
The climb up the slippery ancient stonework still partially covered in vegetation is tiring. On the way up even in the dim pre dawn light your senses are bombarded. The thick smell of the plant life competes with the noises from the jungle around you. The sharp cries of the Toucans seem to carry on a conversation with screeches of the howler monkeys. Above them all is the throaty growl of a jaguar, or maybe its just your imagination.

THE TOWN THAT MORGAN SACKED, OLD PANAMA
In 1671 Morgan with force of over 2000 men and thirty-eight ships attacked and sacked Fort San Lorenzo on the Caribbean coast. Afterwards rather than sail off to the safety of his base in Jamaica he did the unthinkable. He and his men crossed over the isthmus, fighting their way through almost impassable jungle. It took almost two weeks and his men arrived exhausted, sick and weak from hunger but they were on the Pacific coast.
Without hesitation they stormed across the King"s Bridge and attacked the town from the rear. The forts, walls and cannons of the Spanish defenders were useless and after a brief and bloody battle the Spaniards surrendered.
