My background includes over twenty years of experience as a manager, corporate trainer, and college instructor.
The first half of my career was spent in the insurance claims industry, where my job titles included claims manager, litigation manager, arbitrator, and manager of training and development. The second half of my career has been involved in working with what I am most passionate about, helping adults learn and grow both personally and professionally. I have spent my entire career involved in adult education; either teaching, training, participating in human resource development, coaching, or mentoring others.
As a college instructor I have taught the following courses: Supervision & Leadership, Foundations of Business, Organizational Theory & Behavior, Critical Thinking, Human Resources Management, Political, Legal, and Ethical Environments of Business, Introduction to Marketing, Skills for Learning in an Information Age, Information Systems for Business, Interpersonal Communication, Customer Service, and Managing Conflict
I have had a life-long love of learning and obtained an undergraduate degree in Business Administration in 1987. In 2000 I completed a Master's in Business Administration. A second Master's in Adult Education was obtained in 2004 and a Certificate in Training & Performance Improvement was completed in 2005. Currently I am working on my Ph.D. in the field of adult education and have completed all of the core coursework.
I believe that there are no limits to what we can achieve; only we limit our own true potential. What it takes to achieve success is determination, commitment, and most importantly of all: a willingness to learn and change.
I am a member of the American Society for Training & Development (ASTD) and a former Toastmasters club president.

The Role of Social Skills in Communication
Many business authors advocate the use of emotional intelligence as the answer to handling complex relational interactions. I believe that your ability to get along with others relies more upon your social intelligence, rather than your emotional intelligence, because social intelligence is focused strictly on how you deal with people.

Effective Listening During Communication
Effective listening involves much more than actions, as you are the receiver of a communication message that the sender intended to deliver, whether it was spoken words or something in writing.
Hearing is receiving and listening is processing.

Communication as a Process
Communication is a complex subject as it involves a complex process that occurs quickly on the part of both the sender of the message and the receiver of the message.
Being able to understand this process will determine whether you are good as a communicator, or outstanding in your ability to deliver a communication message successfully.
