My observations on a lovely spring Saturday morning in San Francisco, browsing the stores, window shopping and listening to a street singer called “Mr. Smiley” around Union Square; a delightful day ending with lunch at the Cheese Cake Factory.

Jumping Frog Jubilee
This is the story of how Mark Twain came to write The Celebrated Jumping Frog of Calaveras County, the story that made him famous. Angels Camp, founded in 1848, is a beautiful little town located in the foothills of the Sierra Mountains. It has become the home of Mark Twain’s world famous “Jumping Frog Jubilee.” Every year during the third week of May the Jubilee is held at the Calaveras County Fairgrounds, better known as Frogtown. People from around the world come to Calaveras County to watch this extravaganza.

One of the Nicest Things Someone Ever Did for Me
This is in response to a public request "The nicest thing someone has ever done." Many nice things have been done for me over the years but my uncle’s loving act of kindness stands out in my memory when I recall my very happy childhood in spite of the hardships suffered not only by my family but by many families during the depression era.

Mary Edwards Walker "Let the generations know that women in uniform also guaranteed their freedom" (Best Offer)
This is the story Dr. Mary Edwards Walker, a woman before her time, blazing trails for the liberation of women. Throughout her life she was active in the women’s movement. She was the second woman in this country to become a doctor. Mary was a field surgeon during the Civil war and the first and only woman to be awarded the Congressional Medal of Honor.
