How do you actually buy the content?

I'm in my cart, which I have added one article I am hoping to buy for exclusive usage, yet I don't seem to be able to locate the buy function. I've navigated around my account, and nowhere but the cart do I find the article I want. I would have expected to be able to buy the article when I entered the 'download your content' area, yet I am asked to search for name and order number, but I cannot see an order number in the cart?
Sorry, I'm very confused and any help will be very gratefully received.
