Flirting with Casting Call

Hello, all -- I'm brand new and have yet to submit an article. As I browsed the site I saw, in the list of requested articles, a topic that I know quite a lot about. It's listed, however, as Casting Call and of course I don't yet have five articles accepted. But is there any reason that I can't write the article anyway and simply submit it independent of the category? Thanks.
