Why don't requesters reply to messages?

I sent messages to two requesters asking for some clarification and also mentioning my experience/qualifications etc. They had requests in for articles for which I was well qualified to write.

I could have submitted the articles of course, but I felt that as they were rather specific, there would be no chance of ever selling them. That was another reason for clarification.

As I have had no reply from either of them, I just wonder why I should bother and why they are so rude??

Have other people had similar experiences?

If it's an old request, then they might have already bought articles. I know most of the requests have had articles purchased for them. I've been watching the article sales pretty closely this past month.

I've spoken to some of my customers. A few won't answer, but then they're not customers after that.
