Newby here - are subheadings allowed in articles?

Hi all,
I'm brand new to the site and working on my first article now. I was just wondering if subheadings were allowed through the body of the article? I often format my blog posts with 2 to 3 subheadings per article, but I'm not sure whether that is OK for constant content?
If they are OK, could anyone advise me on the appropriate way to format this please?
