Ellipses Rejection Question

Post by light87 »

Hi! I've almost got my first article approved, yay! But the editor wants me to do the following:

In school we learned that if you're quoting mid-sentence, and not quoting before the end of the sentence, you have to use ellipses. Is what the editor is asking correct? I'm not trying to be rude!!! The editor is a great guy/girl I'm sure! I just wanted an opinion from you guys. Thanks!

I'm sorry everyone! I should have researched the answer to my question before stupidly asking it on forums. According to http://grammar.ccc.commnet.edu/grammar/ ... lipsis.htm, "When words at the beginning of a quoted sentence are omitted, it is not necessary to use an ellipsis to indicate that words have been left out when that fragment can fit into the flow of your text.
