Re: A Gentle Plea to CC - Consistency in Editing
I think the editors do a great job too. However I am still concerned for you, ReneeF, if there hasn't been a reply or a solution to the problem about you getting rejections for the word "you". You're right - everyone uses it, and I hope that they will let you do it too once they read your...

Re: A Gentle Plea to CC - Consistency in Editing
Welcome to CC. I have one editor or two who adhere strictly to guidelines on owly and do not allow any second person vernacular or the following words: this, that, those... etc at the beginning of sentences and who take the CC guidelines to a whole new and very tight level. All personality is stripp...

Re: What types of content are people buying and selling?
I find that you need to write differently here than on other sites. You kinda need to get a feel for how the editors work. My normal rejections are for wordiness, so I try to keep sentences short. I have another site I write for where the editor kicks back stuff for sentences being too short and ch...

Re: What types of content are people buying and selling?
Hi there, that link doesn't work..says the article isn't available. I think that it might be a good idea, if it's practicable, for you to post a section or a whole article (maybe in the 'rejections' section of the forum) to give a better idea of what actual 2nd person use the eds object to. Because...

Re: What types of content are people buying and selling?
Halo, Renee, do you mind me asking what exactly you mean by 2nd person vernacular?...it's not a term I have come across. I was assuming you meant 'you' as a substitute for the more formal 'one'. As in: 'You should then go on to fill the kettle with water', for example. Is that what you mean or is i...

Re: Returned article - 3 months after purchase
They run it through copyscape before giving a refund, so I think maybe the customer bought a bunch and decided he didn't need it. It's happened to me before. I got a $117 chargeback one time and it hurt. But, they check to make sure it hasn't been used. I guess it's just like anything else. Buy a b...

Re: Returned article - how is this allowed?
Even if the client didnt use it online, what is preventing the client from printing it somewhere els,e a magazine or flyer perhaps. I dont see the benefit of allowing a return policy, especially if you allow a 100% preview, then no, no returns. How did they even get their money back, is it being sub...

Re: Returned article - how is this allowed?
I'd be very worried that the work has been used online and elsewhere too. Even IF the article did not perform as expected by the client, after 3 months there is no way it should be returned. This is troubling to all of us.

Re: What types of content are people buying and selling?
It's also interesting to see all the instances of you and your etc in the light of the questions raised by Renee F (I think) in the questions about rejections section! It's very odd. And thanks a lot for sharing all that work :) The results seem to confirm conventional wisdom, but that's still very...

Re: How to Sell More Articles
Summer and winter have always been the off season as far back as when I started content/copy writing in 2001. spring and fall are when the sales start pulling in. I've always held this motto, in summer and winter is when to build the catalog of content because spring and fall is when you'll be worki...

Re: Self-Editing for CC Success
My advice is to keep a running list of errors editors here at CC have caught you on along with a list of mistakes you know about. Type this list up and print it out periodically, but leave a few lines to add new notes. Use this list religiously for editing. What I do is type up the article as fast a...
