Re: Using "You" in Articles - What are Your Thoughts?

Using "you" is not proper grammar. I think it's accepted (even required) to use it in articles because bloggers have butchered the English language so badly that I can hear my high school and college professors dropping dead from disgust. The reason you think it feels more natural is becau...

Re: Does anyone use Bright Hub?

Hey Evie, I was accepted by BrightHub. Incidentally, I write for eHow too. :D I haven't heard great things about Helium either. I haven't done anything with BrightHub. You choose 3 topics and the assignments are limited. Plus, I app'd to 3 subjects and the 1 I'm strongest in, the editor hasn't even ...

Re: Boosting Your Confidence in Social Situations

I doubt it's only because you spelled a word in the British way. Since he listed off every error he has in his form, I'd say you have some odd sentence structure somewhere.

Oh yeah, I'm guilty.

You forgot one - "unique"

Not very many things are unique, and all that grammar jazz.

Re: Can this be a full time job?

You're not even supposed to market your Helium articles, so I'm told. I never got into Helium, but they've recently changed their rules about flat fee articles. I don't hear very many authors speak well of Helium. I've had an account with them for years, and never did much with it.

Re: Can we get an "Are You Kidding Me? Take a Hike" button?

I use it because I'm not above negotiating. When I click it, I think 10% or even 20% cheaper, but when some dude sends me an $8 offer when my usage price is $15, I kinda think he's taking me for a suckah. I don't even want to calculate how much the price is per word $8-CCfees is on a 1000 word artic...

Can we get an "Are You Kidding Me? Take a Hike" button?

Seriously....a 500 word article with an offer of $6 and a 1000-word article with an offer of $8. I use the best offer because I'm not above negotiating, but I don't want to be bothered with these ridiculous offers. Does anyone besides the junk providers on elance and RAC really write for a penny per...

Question regarding bylines

I'd like to put my good ol' Lysis pen name as a byline, but I don't want to push back articles of mine by days because I did it wrong. Let me just clarify - The byline is at the top, correct? So, the format is as follows:

Title
by Lysis

Text of article

Is this correct?

Re: June Submissions

The iPhone request was kinda cool. I tried so hard not to slam Blackberry.

Thanks for posting this too, btw. I'm not a poetry writer (wayyyy too foo foo for my tastes) but I did have a question about how things go for requests that are outside of the guidelines.

Question regarding public requests

Hi all, I have a question regarding open job requests. This has happened to me twice, so I'm sure I'm missing some detail of the process. I've been writing articles for job requests, and twice now I went to the upload page and the job was not in the dropdown list. The last one was against the typica...
