Re: Are editors costing this site business?

I really don't understand the people who complain they can make more money elsewhere. If so, why not just do it and leave cc alone? There must be twenty other content sites where you can post your work. I'm also confused by people who come and say they've won writing awards. Being a good writer is e...

Re: IE 9 problem

I agree that IE is a pain, and I use Firefox a lot of the time--but the problem is that there are lots of people who still use it--customers we're losing if they can't see our content.

IE 9 problem

Am I the only one who's noticed that our content samples aren't visible in IE 9? This problem started about a month ago when cc made security changes. I brought it to their attention, but it still hasn't been fixed. I'm running windows 7 with IE9, and at least in my version of the software, the cont...

Re: New type of article theft?

A whole lot of those investing articles are mine. I'm just so disgusted.

Add to that the fact that our content is now invisible in internet explorer, at least my version. CC says they're working on it, but my sales have gone down in the meantime, and I'm sure I'm not the only one.

Re: Can we change our prices

In answer to the other part of your question, David, there is probably more money lost on cc by taking low ball offers than any other. Don't allow offers for at least 6 months to a year if you can avoid it. By then, many of the articles will be gone for full price.

Re: Newbie - need advice

The problem with trying to answer your question is that there are so many variables. More sophisticated articles on legal, scientific, and medical topics are going to sell for way more than " Ten tips for a great first date" or similar things that almost any decent writer could write. Dema...

questions about writer pools

I'm unclear about the writer pools and how they work. I'm approved for several writer pools in one topic area, but I have yet to see a single email. I asked support about it, and they said my category hadn't gotten any requests. I was told I have to apply individually to every category I want to be ...

payment schedule

I could swear I've seen some writers mention getting paid twice a month on cc. I get paid by paypal, but I've checked and my payments only come once a month, even though I've had sales in both halves of the month. Am I imagining the twice-a-month thing?

Re: Starting sentences with "But" (and other conjuncts)

I think the moderator who shot down Lor is full of beans and out of touch with changing standards. I start sentences in my cc articles with "But" all the time, and I've never been rejected for it. But keep in mind I'm doing it like I do it here, where putting it all in one sentence would m...

Re: Pricing Advice for Private Piece

I definitely wouldn't put in a best offer clause. You're inviting people to lowball you. If I put in that much time, I'd rather see the article go up on cc and eventually sell to someone else than accept a low price for it. Buyers pay well over $100 for less than 1000 words all the time. When someon...

Re: Getting That First Sale

Sales are unpredictable, and they tend to come in clumps. The great majority of my sales have come in the first two weeks of the month. (This rule doesn't apply to private requests) The beginning of the week tends to bring more sales than the end. I've gone several weeks without a sale, and I've sol...

Re: Any fiction writers here?

I have seen marketplace buyers post requests for personal essays and fiction on other websites on a regular basis. I think cc may be missing a good opportunity here. The problem is that both fiction and personal writing are much harder to edit and judge, which makes it harder to maintain the quality...

Re: Content not verified by ithenticate?

As it turns out, my customer is the one who made the forum post, but he used a different username for some reason. He did not, however, make the blog post--he says if you scroll over his name, you see a different name associated with the post. So I agree--I think this is a clear case of theft from t...

desperately seeking expedited help button

This site needs some way for writers and buyers to submit a request for expedited help. I have a customer who is out of town, probably at a convention of some sort, where he might possibly show my article and constant content's site to new customers. But he has a laptop and he doesn't have IE8 on it...

Re: Loyalty and Honesty in Writing

I am glad for the clarifications. The rules here are not at all clear. I don't think just putting it in the registration agreement is a good idea; people have to click on something everytime they sign up for a website, so they don't pay much attention. Moreover, they may not be able to find it again...
