Re: A little disappointed...

I still note a defensive, even somewhat hostile, tone in at least one of the responses since I last posted in this thread. If the moderator or admin objects to something someone has posted in this forum, that's fine. It's their job. But I have a problem with other ordinary forum members trying to ce...

Re: Twitter, anyone?

I have a Twitter account as well, @michaelsmoker (I think). Some people swear by Twitter as a promotional tool, but my experience is that writers tend to accumulate mostly fellow writer Twitter followers, who are busy promoting their own work and don't read any tweets they receive. The best results ...

Re: Can I use my rejected Article?

I also try to avoid having my articles reviewed on Mondays or on Tuesday mornings lately. Since I started doing that, my acceptance rate has been 100%.

Re: A little disappointed...

I wonder why people get so defensive when someone dares to question the golden sunshine purity and heavenly beauty of CC. It's a phenomenon I've observed on seven or eight different writing site fora--you can't even _appear_ to diss the host site or people jump down your throat. The OP raised some r...

Re: Can I use my rejected Article?

Barry, that's one reason I almost never resubmit a rejected article. For example, one of my articles was rejected with this comment: "Exclamation marks should be kept to a minimum." I reviewed the article and saw that it contained NO exclamation marks--not a single one. I don't believe I'v...

Re: Comma rules

I completely agree about online content writing needing to be at a sixth-grade reading level. But then, some newspapers around here have been written at that level for the past 30 years. It all depends on the market.

Re: Articles on Electronic Cigarettes

I think articles on electronic cigarettes would sell, depending on other factors, such as article length, complexity and price. St. Louis is going smoke-free as of January 1, 2011, so electronic cigarettes might become a hot retail item there and article demand in that region might increase. By cont...

Re: A little disappointed...

I believe the commission is actually 35%, but it's supposed to include the cost of promoting articles on our behalf. I've never had to wait 10 days for an article to be reviewed. I did once wait six days because of a four-day holiday weekend, but usually my articles get reviewed in about three busin...

Re: Punctuation Errors on the 'Help' Page

That is indeed embarrassing for a writing site, especially this one.

seasonal articles

I have only one seasonal article up (Thanksgiving, which could easily be changed to Christmas). Do other experienced CC writers create seasonal articles and then bide their time until the buying period for that season comes and more customers are looking for them? I also wonder about seasonal articl...

can something be done about the spam?

We've had a LOT of spam advertising in the forum lately. Can something be done about it? It wastes my time to click on an updated thread and see, for example, an advertisement for Chinese jewellery instead of a relevant post.

Charlotte, could you PM me a referral link to Textbroker if it has a referral program? I don't have an account there yet.

Re: Titles

Use the search function on the CC site to look for similar or identical titles--and topics. On a related issue, I don't suppose I need to tell you that Copyscape is a good investment. Sometimes a writer inadvertently uses the same phrases as another writer did elsewhere on the web, even though she's...

Re: How long does it take for an article to be approved?

Right now article review seems to be taking between 2.5 and 3 non-holiday weekdays for me, but it has varied over time. Whether my article is for a public request or just open market doesn't seem to make a difference.
