Re: Can someone please help?

You don't need to include proper MLA citations - in-line citations are fine for web content. But if you do want to include proper citations at the end of your article, eliminate the www. I know it's not proper form, but you can't have any www. anywhere in your submitted article. Don't feel like ther...

Re: Can someone please help?

First, I can promise you that the process gets easier. You just need a bit of time to familiarize yourself with the system. Second, summaries - there are two of them. The long summary is where you post 1/3 of your article, although you can always post more. It's up to authors what part of the articl...

Re: Question About Customer Contact

You can also post the entire article in the long summary when you submit it - that way, your customer can read it over and request any changes before she purchases it. If you have to make changes, just resubmit the article with a note to the Eds in the short summary telling them what has been change...

Re: Question About Customer Contact

You're right to not provide her with your contact info. I'm sure she's just trying to get you the info you need to write the articles, but by providing her with your contact info, you're going against CC policy - and that could get you kicked out of here. If I were you, I'd ask her to set up a priva...

It's good to know that somebody out there in the lawless land of Internet did the right thing.

If only all content thieves were like this one . . .

Re: A question about private requests

I never fill in the keyword box for private requests. Since your customer has a direct link to the article, they don't need to search for it - making the keywords useless. I do the same as Celeste for short summaries. For the long summary, you'll still have to post 1/3 of the article. I usually post...

Re: help! file download?

I think you've found it - in any kind of writing program, whether Word, Notepad, WordPerfect (which I use), you can save your file as a different file type by going to Save As, then clicking on File Type. So if you're typing in Notepad, when you go to save your file, save it as a .txt or a .doc file...

Re: What happens when you want to add another word to an article

Any change you make to an article means you'll have to delete it and resubmit it - which means it will need to be reapproved. You could write a note to the Eds at the beginning of the short summary, letting them know that the article was previously approved, and you just made a small change by addin...

Re: Poetry requested content

No writer is allowed to submit poems on spec - but if a customer requests a poem through a public or private request, submit away. It's allowed, otherwise the request wouldn't have gone through. The Eds are aware of these types of requests, but it couldn't hurt to include a brief note at the beginni...

Re: Requested Content

And don't forget that it's not necessarily a first come, first serve basis. In many cases, a customer will wait to purchase until they have a whole bunch of articles to choose from. Say I'm a customer here who's posted a public request, and both you and Celeste write articles for the request. Celest...

Re: Need Some Help

I do the exact opposite of Lysis - whenever I'm stuck for inspiration, I research a topic I've always wanted to learn about. Since it's a topic I'm interested in, I enjoy doing the research, and I find that learning about something new kickstarts my brain, making it easier to write. A year or so ago...

Re: Stolen Content

Too funny, Charlotte - I thought it was just me! One time, a thief stole my article word-for-word, but he rewrote the title - and it had like three errors. It's bad enough that he stole my article, but now he's ruining it? Why couldn't he have just stolen the title too, while he was at it! Good to k...

Stolen Content

Just thought I'd give everyone a heads up - "author" John Paul has been stealing CC content- he's stolen two of my articles, and I recognize a few of his other titles as belonging on CC. Here's the link - http://contributor.yahoo.com/user/877290/john_paul.html - if you want to check for yo...

It changes automatically - when someone buys a usage license, the unique and full rights licenses automatically become unavailable. You don't need to do anything.
