Onions. Onions are in many foods. Resist the temptation to give your dog leftover Chinese food or pizza. Onions can cause stomach upset and can harm blood cells, triggering anemia.

Chocolate and cocoa. These items are high in fat and contain caffeine, which can affect a dog’s nervous system and cause seizures. Chocolate has been known to be fatal to dogs.

Avocadoes. This fruit contains a fatty acid derivative called persin that cause respiratory and digestive problems and an accumulation of fluid in the abdomen or heart cavity.
