August Rush

Summary:
This is a positive review of a wonderful movie from 2007 called August Rush.
Details or Sample:
August Rush

Sometimes a movie is released that speaks directly to the heart. August Rush is one of the most beautiful movies of 2007. This fabulous movie is a classic “lost child” story. Fate separates the boy from his mother at birth. But, more than that the movie has lessons to teach about how caring for one another can lead to greater and greater happiness. This beautiful movie speaks volumes about the enduring love that exists between a mother and child and how choices can bless or destroy a family. August Rush follows the fate of three wonderful people as chance and the devotion of a child to his art and his hope for a family influence their futures.

August Rush is the pseudonym of a lost boy whose real name is Evan Taylor. Evan is brilliantly played by the young actor Freddie Highmore. Evan is the product of a one night liaison between a concert cellist Lyla Novacek poignantly played by Keri Russell and Irish rock star Louis Connelly played by Jonathan Rhys Meyers. August is a musical prodigy who believes sincerely that his music will bring his parents back to him. He is on a quest for family. That quest takes him to the Julliard School where he gives the most triumphant of performances.

Freddie Highmore gives us a portrayal of August that hits just the right combination of innocence and enduring courage. The story includes elements of Oliver Twist thanks to the brilliance of Robin Williams who plays a street musician known as “Wizard”. Only Robin Williams could portray a complex character who must have a delicate balance of benevolence and menace. Williams pulls it off brilliantly. Wizard is the Fagin to a troop of young street musicians who provide his income. August becomes one of them as he pursues his art and tries to locate his parents.

Jonathan Rhys Meyers shows us a tender portrayal of a man who may find his own happiness through the influence of the music of a child. His portrayal of Louis gives us a vision of the quiet heroism of a good man trying hard to do the right thing.

August Rush is something rare for our times. It is movie about good in the abstract. In this wonderful movie you will see good people working to build their lives around the importance of the family. August Rush is a superb choice for the whole family.
