Details or Sample:
Got a thing for “bad boys?” Constantly getting hooked up with “drama queens?” In case you think you might want to learn a thing or two about dealing with them, the classic movie “Gone With The Wind” is a must see! This drama of love, hate and passion revolves around the backdrop of the Civil War. This is the story of Scarlett O’Hara, the dark haired Irish beauty and all that goes along with being wealthy and carefree one moment and penniless and desperate the next. The consummate drama queen Scarlett uses one man after another for her own purposes until she meets her match in Rhett Butler. You can’t help but admire Scarlett’s tenacity in the face of great loss. While navigating her way through the burning of Atlanta and the deaths of her family and two husbands, Scarlett never gives in or gives up.

The cast of this film classic reads like a list of “who was who” in the golden days of Hollywood. Starring Vivian Leigh, Clark Gable, Olivia De Havilland and Leslie Howard this film has gone down in history as one of the best of all time. It was filmed in beautiful Technicolor. The capturing of the grandeur and pain as Atlanta burns to the ground is at the same time breathtaking and entertaining.

While often thought of as a “girly” flick Gone With The Wind offers much more then just romance. The realistic look of Atlanta and the Deep South at the time of the civil war meets the needs of history buffs and adventure lovers as well.

Produced by David O. Selznick, legendary film producer, this movie never drags and one scene flows easily into another. Selznick, known for his attention to detail, made sure that the scenes of Atlanta burning were totally authentic. This story was originally written by Margaret Mitchell and published in 1936. It won the Pulitzer Prize in 1937. Sidney Howard wrote the screenplay. Amazingly it was the only book that Margaret Mitchell ever wrote. The film won an Academy Award for Best Picture in 1939.

The four-disc collector’s edition features both wide screen and full- screen versions. It comes in a special edition “Gold” box and makes a great gift for yourself or a friend. It includes on Discs One and Two ”The Movie”. Disc Three is “The Making of A Legend: Gone With The Wind.” This is an entertaining, full of history, behind the scenes look at making the movie. Disc Four is “About The Cast” and has in-depth focus on choosing the leads Vivian Leigh and Clark Gable as well as the rest of the cast. This movie stands the test of time and this DVD set is a welcome addition to any collection owned by a classic movie buff.
