Create Your own Oriental Tea Room

Summary:
If you love the tranquility of an Oriental tea room, why not create one right in your own home? It´s easier than you think.
Details or Sample:
Do you love all things oriental? Do you yearn for the calm and tranquility of a peaceful tea room, and the pleasures of fragrant tea and delicious pastries, without having to leave your home? You can capture that atmosphere by creating your own Asian tea room.

If you have a big enough porch, or veranda, you have just the right place to start. But if not, choose an area of your home close to a window with a beautiful view. Contemplation of nature is essential to this experience.

Choose the right table and chairs for your nook. Bamboo is perfect, especially outdoors, but you can also used carved wooden pieces or black lacquer. Browse through some Asian showrooms online for inspiration.

Perhaps you already have something you can adapt. A beautiful Asian inspired shawl or length of fabric draped over a plain table will give you an instant oriental ambience.

A cabinet of curiosities is also a nice touch. You can keep your special china in there and use it to display small pieces of Asian art and craft. A plain cupboard or display shelves can be painted to match the rest of the décor.

Add a selection of beautiful teas to the cabinet, such as jasmine or oolong. Look out for varieties with fascinating names, such as gunpowder tea and Iron Buddha to add to your collection.

A red tasseled lantern can be hung over the table, or several smaller lanterns hung in a line. Beautiful china is not expensive in many Asian grocery stores, so shop around before you buy.

Some teas are strong, some very light in flavor, so you will need more than one tea pot. Think of it as an excuse to become a collector of Chinese tea and tea pots!
