Most people hate mopping floors and few are willing to do them properly by scrubbing them on their hands and knees. The iRobot company may have the answer.
The Scooba cleans floors easily and quickly, saving the house-holder valuable time. Unfortunately most people can’t afford it, however.

The savvy robot uses a 4-stage cleaning system to clean most types of hard floors, including hardwood, tiles, vinyl, linoleum and stone. It is probably most useful for cleaning bathrooms and kitchens because they usually don’t have mats or carpets. According to a review in PC Magazine, the Scooba ‘sweeps, mops and even dries the floor.’ Unlike mopping with a mop and bucket which involves dirty water, the Scooba only uses clean water. This is a huge advantage and the floor apparently looks wonderfully clean and buffed afterwards, according to most reviews.

The robot is very easy to use. The tank must be filled with special Clorox cleaning solution first and there are only two buttons on the robot – Power and Clean. The robot will also indicate if it is stuck or something is stopping the roller brush. Large items of furniture and debris should be removed before using the Scooba on the floor. It will cleverly avoid obstacles, apparently, and avoids rugs and carpets. One tank will clean about 200 square feet. Unlike a mop, the Scooba will clean places that are difficult to reach, such as underneath cabinet edges and beneath tables and chairs.
