Time Well Wasted was Brad Paisley’s 2005 follow up to the best selling CD Mud on the Tires. There’s a reason Paisley has remained one of country music’s heaviest hitters. His albums encompass everything that country music should be- rich, beautifully written music; and lyrics that tell a real story. Paisley’s talent shines on Time Well Wasted, and is further showcased in the fact that he wrote all of the tracks himself. Songs like You Need a Man Around Here and Alcohol will be fast favorites for fans of Paisley’s irreverent, comedic songs. What might be surprising to fans of his funny lyrics are the other tracks on this album. Songs like Waiting on a Woman and She’s Everything show a deeper, more romantic side to the singer. The fact that Paisley was a new father at the time he wrote a lot of these tracks seems to come through in the passion displayed on a lot of the tracks. The lyrics to these songs are moving and powerful. The album includes a duet with Alan Jackson (Out in the Parking Lot). This song is simple and melodic, showcasing both men’s rich vocals. If you’re looking for a strictly light hearted album, you might be disappointed, as there are definitely some spiritual and moving songs, including The Uncloudy Day and When I Get Where I’m Going, which he sings with Dolly Parton. My only complaint about the album is Time Warp- a long drawn out instrumental solo.
