Funniest TV Characters of All Time

Summary:
This 430-word blog entry lists a few of the funniest TV characters of all time - both animated and live action.
Details or Sample:

Though this is a highly-subjective list, you just might agree that these TV-show characters are some of the funniest of all time. Regardless of what type of humor you prefer, the actors who played these characters were hard working and dedicated to making us laugh out loud.

• Hawkeye Pierce from “M*A*S*H” (Alan Alda). Oh, sure, Hawkeye could be maudlin and dramatic sometimes. But those moments made his comedic scenes even funnier. Whether this character was tying somebody’s boot laces together or cracking a joke in a so-called “serious” situation, he was undoubtedly the funniest character on the show.

• Homer Simpson from “The Simpsons” (voiced by Dan Castellaneta). Though we can argue all afternoon about whether the later seasons are as funny as the earlier episodes, “Simpsons” fans all agree that Homer is one of the funniest animated characters of all time. His repertoire includes everything from the infamous “D’oh!” catch phrase to the one-off jokes at his own expense. You also get the jokes about everything from politicians to beer.

• Eric Cartman from “South Park” (voiced by Trey Parker). Okay, so Eric Cartman is a nasty, obnoxious, evil little demon who should probably be blown up sometime soon – just to do South Park, Colorado a favor. But his highly-offensive brand of humor is just shocking enough to make even decent people – that is, those of us who don’t really tell racist jokes – laugh out loud. The truly-unexpected part, though, is that every living generation includes “South Park” fans. This was never meant to be “Your gramma’s show,” but, surprisingly enough, Grandma’s laughing with you.

• The Church Lady from “Saturday Night Live” (Dana Carvey). This character was probably one of “SNL’s” last truly-funny bits. Carvey’s “Could it be…SAAAAAAAATAN!” proclamations, along with his outrageous facial expressions, made it impossible to watch the Church Lady skits with a straight face.

• Stewie Griffin from “Family Guy” (voiced by Seth MacFarlane). Oh, sure, many of these lists mention Peter Griffin when “Family Guy” comes up. But Stewie deserves his spot on this list for his unexplainable British accent as well as his bizarre personality (being obsessed with Rupert the teddy bear and trying to kill his mother at the same time). Peter has some great one liners, but Stewie’s are just as great, if not better, depending on your sense of humor.

Those are, of course, just a few of the many hilarious TV characters out there. Your list won’t be identical to this one, but you just might agree with a couple of these entries.
