The Seahorse Grill: A Hidden Gem in Ocean City, New Jersey (Best Offer)
|
Summary:
This 360-word review gives high marks to the Seahorse Grill, located inside the Pavilion Motor Lodge in Ocean City, New Jersey |
Details or Sample:
The Seahorse Grill is a hidden gem in Ocean City, New Jersey. Its location inside the Pavilion Motor Lodge at 8th and Atlantic may cause visitors who aren’t staying at the Pavilion to overlook it, but the Seahorse Grill offers good food and good service at a decent price.
Despite having only a dozen or so inside tables, the Seahorse Grill is rarely busy, and the friendly staff is able to give guests personal attention. The neutral, sandy-colored décor incorporates some warm tones, and the large windows let in a lot of natural light, creating a relaxing atmosphere for breakfast or lunch. Square glass centerpieces filled with seashells bring in the outdoors for diners who are taking the necessary time out of the sun to fill their stomachs. Shaded outdoor tables in the motor lodge’s courtyard also allow diners to enjoy the sea breeze while they eat.
The breakfast food is tasty – whether omelets and hash browns or french toast, each meal is cooked just right. The restaurant tends more toward homestyle cooking than gourmet, but it includes those extra touches that make food good, such as a sprinkling of powdered sugar on the french toast. The menu is somewhat limited, however, and a pork roll and hash browns are the only breakfast items available for someone allergic to eggs.
The restaurant opens at 7:00 a.m., earlier than many others. Price-wise, it is among the least expensive in Ocean City. The breakfast specials advertised on the signboard start at $3.95; most breakfasts cost about $6-$7.
Two of Ocean City’s bicycle rental lots are next to the Seahorse Grill, so it makes a great stop for morning people who have just worked up an appetite by pedaling on the boardwalk. Look for the neon seahorse sign on the Atlantic Avenue side of the Pavilion Motor Lodge – the restaurant’s entrance is just under it. For those taking morning strolls on the beach, it’s also worth the block-long walk from the boardwalk, down the 8th Street ramp near Music Pier. Whether or not you stay at the Pavilion, be sure to stop at the Seahorse Grill on your next visit to Ocean City!
