Best Romantic Movies: Top 10 Romance Films Even Guys Love to Watch (Best Offer)
|
Summary:
Article on ten of the best romantic movies that even guys will love. It´s not that guys don´t like romantic movies, but you have to know the right ones. |
Details or Sample:
There are all kinds of good romance movies out there from the romantic comedy, to the “Jane Austin” style of “chick flicks,” to modern day romances, there are many to choose from. Finding a good romantic movie that a boyfriend, husband, or normal guy friend likes is tough, but not impossible. I know, because generally speaking I am not a big fan of romance movies, and I tend to make fun of my friends who are, but some romance movies are just too good not to love (just don’t tell them I said so).
Keep in mind this isn’t a list of which is “best,” but they are ranked by which are best as far as the average modern males and females both enjoying it. So here’s a list of ten of the best that both genders can enjoy:
#10: “How to Lose a Guy in 10 Days” (2003): Starring Matthew McConaughey and Kate Hudson, this is an entertaining film that takes a different enough approach to create a romance story that many guys enjoy seeing this movie because of the comedy potential. The previews showing Ben (McConaughey) freaking out after seeing all the feminine hygiene products in his bathroom alone is enough to get some attention.
In fact, in a way this is like a romance ambush movie. It’s funny enough that I didn’t even realize, I mean, uh, the guys might not even realize they’re watching a romantic comedy/romance story until the obligatory chase after the girl mushy scene at the end as he begs the girl to stay…at which point since the guys have gone along for the entire ride so far in the movie, why not finish with a romantic ending?
#9: “The Wedding Singer” (1998): This may seem an odd choice at first, but it’s about a wedding singer who wants to get married more than anything, gets dumped on the day of by a not good girl friend, then he falls for a beautiful girl whose wedding he is helping to plan, and misunderstandings create a series of romantic adventures that lead the two loves back to one another. Add in a kick butt 1980s soundtrack, a disturbing back up singer named George, who looks and sounds like Boy George, and a great over the top series of ending scenes, and this is as good a romance as it is a comedy. You’ll have no problem getting guys who want to watch and enjoy this movie.
#8: “Before Sunrise” (1995): This is a fantastic dramatic film that appeals to the hopeless romantic in anyone, or the spontaneous crazy guy who says he’s not romantic, but secretly kind of hopes. This is a “minimalist” film that stars Ethan Hawke as Jesse, an American who is just coming off a traumatic break up, and Julie Delpy as Celine, a college student visiting her grandmother in Budapest, but is going back to France.
The two meet on a train, and after some very deep conversation, Jesse convinces Celine to get off the train to spend one day with him in Vienna. The rest of the film is amazing dialogue, contemplation of huge ideas about love, life, and other philosophical questions, with the two falling in love, wanting that perfect day because they both know they may never see one another again. The dialogue is amazing, and will keep your eyes glued to the screen all the way to the bitter sweet end.
#7: “Say Anything” (1989): This movie, directed by Cameron Crowe and featuring a young John Cusak (one of two actors who makes this list twice), features the underachieving guy who falls for the beautiful valedictorian girl. He wins her over, showing himself to be a good man, though her father hates the relationship. In order to win her back, he stands outside the window with a boom box blaring “In Your Eyes.” This is one of the most classic scenes of any film, and “Say Anything” is constantly referenced on “best of” lists for eighties movies, romance movies, and high school movies.
