Article about how to cope with frustrations with baby car seats.
Details or Sample:
Anybody who has to drive regularly with a baby in the car will know how troublesome this can be. On the one hand the motion of the car does often send babies to sleep and some parents welcome that time of peace while driving, but on the other hand if you are driving for any length of time your baby is likely to become agitated and unhappy. This is usually due to them being strapped into a seat and not being able to move around freely as they want. The other problem parents will encounter when driving with babies is the tricky business of getting the baby in and out of the car.

Car seats are important for children and should always be used, so getting used to dealing with your car seat is paramount.

Some car seats are easier to install than others, but you should always follow the instructions carefully and make sure you have the car seat fitted properly in your car. If you are unsure seek help as a badly or incorrectly fitted seat is useless. If you have the kind that can be taken from car to car and carried around easily, you’ll soon get used to doing that. These seats are mainly used for small babies and can make life much easier when out and about with your newborn baby. You don’t have to disturb the baby if they’ve fallen asleep in the car and the seat can be used in any car by simply fastening the seat belt around it as directed.

Always make sure your baby or child is strapped tightly into the seat, using the buckles in the seat. Your baby should be strapped into their seat before you attempt to put the seat into the car, so that any carrying around of the seat will see your baby safe and not able to free themselves. They may resist, but don’t be tempted to let them have the straps done up loosely as this is dangerous. You should be able to slide your hand between the straps and your child’s stomach once they are fastened in. Any more room than that and the straps are too loose, and if you have any difficulty doing that then the straps are too tight. Once your baby is too big for these early car seats you will have to fasten the straps once they are sitting in the seat in the car. This is often more difficult as the child knows what’s coming and may not want to be strapped in. You need to be firm and tell your child that this has to happen. They might continue to cry, but their safety is more important.

Luckily there are many in car distractions available to help take your child’s mind off the undesirable situation of being strapped into a car seat. Music, portable DVD players or simply taking and singing to your baby can all help to calm them and make the journey less stressful.
