When I first started playing poker online I had a quick look at a couple of sites to see what was what, and it didn"t take me long to realise I didn"t have the first idea of what people were referring to when they mentioned the flop and the nuts! You can"t ask while you"re playing, or you might as well be wearing a big red flashing "newbie" sign above your head.

These are some of the most common terms you will hear when playing poker online or offline:

Blind. These are forced bets which players have to make before a hand of poker begins.

Board Cards. The cards that are drawn from the pack and placed face up; any player may use these cards.

Flop. The first 3 cards out that are placed face up in Hold-Em.
