Candy canes are one of the many widely-recognized symbols of Christmas. With their colorful stripes and simple shape, candy canes are versatile and pretty and can be used in many ways to decorate, bake, and craft with. Here are a few ideas to use up your stash of Christmas candy canes.

Make a Wreath – All you need are lots of candy canes and a plain Styrofoam wreath form. Using a hot glue gun, glue unwrapped candy canes side by side all around the wreath form, with the hooks facing outwards. The finished wreath will look pretty on its own, but you can decorate it further with ribbon or small ornaments if you wish.

Rim a Cocktail Glass – Got a great recipe for a Christmas cocktail? Finely crush a candy cane and use it to rim the glass with!

Adorn a Gift – Candy canes can be tied with ribbon to decorate a wrapped gift, or glued onto a gift bag for added appeal.

Add to a Gingerbread Man – When your gingerbread men cookies come out of the oven, make a slight, straight indentation on one of their hands with the straight end of a miniature candy cane. Remove the cane and allow the cookies to cool. When decorating, fill each indentation with royal icing and place the miniature candy canes in the gingerbread men´s hands.
