A Ghoulish Halloween Game
|
Summary:
Halloween parties can be a real blast, especially when the games are fun. One particularly popular game is explained in detail within this article. |
Details or Sample:
Although this game has been played for many years and includes many variations, it remains one of the most enjoyable Halloween games ever. It has been given many names over the years, as no one actually knows where it originated or how many times it has undergone changes. Incorporate this fun and ghoulish game into your home or classroom Halloween party for a bit of ghoulish Halloween fun.
The game begins with a bit of a story in which the participants are told one of several different versions of a story. The first version suggests that a ghoulish creature died and was given an autopsy. Unfortunately, some werewolves who happened to gain entrance into the morgue scattered about his body parts.
First Version
The coroner needs to put the ghoulish creature back together again, but cannot identify all of the ghoulish creature’s body parts in order to do so. He is simply too upset to concentrate. He would like the help of your guests in identifying the body parts that remain to be identified so that he can complete his task.
Next, you must explain to your guests that each body part that has not been identified has been placed into a box. You or someone else will ask each of them to place one hand into the box and to make a guess as to which body part it is. After everyone has had a turn to identify each remaining body part, you will tally up the guesses.
Each body part should be placed into a box that is not transparent. You should conduct the game in a darkened area or room for atmosphere. Ideally, only one guest should be near any body part so that no one else can hear his or her response to add to the suspense. Make sure that you have some paper towels or moistened wipes for the participants to use when needed.
Have each participant place one hand inside the box to feel the item. Do not allow him to look inside or to take more than five seconds to feel the item. This prevents each person from figuring out what the item actually is. Plus, the giggling and chatting about the game will remain suspenseful and mysterious.
Each body part will then be labeled with the most frequently received guess. Next, they will be returned to the coroner who will then be able to put the human’s body back together. Be sure to thank all of your guests on behalf of the coroner.
Second Version
A second version suggests that a ghoulish creature killed a human being who died. The human being was given an autopsy in an effort to identify the manner in which he was killed. The coroner conducted the autopsy, but did not completely close up the body yet. In fact and very unfortunately, some werewolves gained entrance into the morgue and scattered about the human’s body parts before he could do so.
Even so, the coroner needs to put the human being’s body back together again, but cannot identify all of his body parts in order to do so. He is simply too upset to concentrate so that he can figure it all out. He would like your guests to help in identifying the body parts that remain so that he can complete his task.
Next, you must explain to your guests how this will be done. Inform them that each body part that has not been identified has been placed into a box with a lid. You or someone else will ask each of them to place one hand into the box in order to make a guess as to which body part it is. After everyone has had a turn to identify each remaining body part, you will tally up the guesses.

You can incorporate variations to this story in order to customize it to your group. However, it is important not to play this game with very young children since they might become upset or even traumatized over it.
Materials Needed (with suggested body parts):
· Several shoe boxes or something of a similar size
· Paper towels or wipes
· A glove
· Jello
· Popcorn
· Candy corn
· Cold, cooked spaghetti
· Several grapes
· Playdoh
· Honey
· Several cleaned and boiled bones, preferably from turkey or chicken legs.
Determine which item is going to become a specific body part ahead of time. Write this down on the bottom of the box or on a slip of paper. Prepare everything ahead of time. It’s best not to place anything else in the box with your item. However, lining the bottom of the box with a piece of wax paper is an excellent idea to prevent staining of leakage.
Prepare Jello according to the directions of the package in a flat pan. Once it has set, carve it into several slices that can be used for the liver of the corpse. Simply place one slab of Jello into the box to represent the liver. If possible, keep the spare “livers” refrigerated until needed.
Prepare spaghetti or linguini according to the directions of the package. Drain it and allow it to cool off. In fact, you can refrigerate it until needed. Simply place one clump of tangled spaghetti pieces in the box for the brains of the corpse.
Peel two large grapes and throw away the peels. These can be placed into the box for the eyes of the corpse.
Prepare several bones by cleaning and boiling them, preferably from turkey or chicken legs to use. These can be placed into the box to represent several of the bones of the corpse from his arm.
Take a plastic glove and place one piece of candy corn into each finger to represent the finder nails. Next, fill the remaining part of the glove with cooked popcorn. Tie off the end of the glove with a piece of yarn or tape it shut. Place this into the box for the hands of the corpse.
Take a jar of Playdoh and mold it into the shape of a heart. Coat the Playdoh with a very fine layer of honey to make it more realistic. Place the shaped Playdoh into the box to represent the heart of the corpse.
Use your imagination to add as many more body parts as you would like. For example, use a raw piece of meat for the tongue, a piece of licorice for the lips, or honey for blood. It is best to clean up right away as soon as the fun is over. Be creative and have fun with your Ghoulish Halloween Game.
