How to Beat Depression with Nutrition

 (Best Offer)
Summary:
Depression and other mental illnesses are on the rise. Proper nutrition can provide an alternative to prescription medications. This article takes a look into the correlation between nutrition and cognitive function.
Details or Sample:

Emotional disorders are serious illnesses. They should be treated, but is America going about it the wrong way? Advertisements for the latest anti-depressants are everywhere. From billboards to magazines, the big drug companies have cashed in on the epidemic of depression. While these pills may help the condition at hand, they also poison the body. All the prescriptions that doctors write have side effects. Physical health does not have to be sacrificed to restore a healthy mental condition.

The first thing that should be examined is any food allergy. Many people are intolerant to wheat, gluten, sugar, and dairy. They may go on years without linking their anxiety, discomfort, and inability to sleep to their consumption of these foods. Gluten allergies are more common than one might think. “Sugar Blues” are not a myth. Sugar sucks vital nutrients right out of our system. So does caffeine. The drugs that are sugar and caffeine stress important organs, such as the liver, that are the primary players in metabolism. Not only will the brain benefit from finding out what types of foods one should avoid, but the waistline will too!

Food Sensitivities can be tested by eliminating them one at a time from the diet for a trial period of one to two weeks. If there is no difference in how one feels, incorporate that food back into the diet and try one of the other likely candidates. Pesticides, hormones, and other food additives are other big contributors of food sensitivities in individuals. These foreign additives aggravate many mental conditions, such as Attention Deficit Hyperactivity Disorder (ADHD) in children. It is hard not to believe that these substances are contributing to a rise of these mental ailments as these toxins are added to the majority of the food available. Luckily, the availability of organic food is also on the rise. Buying foods that have not been laden with pesticides, pumped full of hormones, and mixed in with a bunch of artificial additives will help to balance out hormones and brain chemicals.
