Cleaning Your House to Sell (Best Offer)
|
Summary:
A clean smelling house is easier to sell, so check out these tips to make your house more appealing. It just might make the sale! |
Details or Sample:
When I was a toddler, I tried to help my mom by dumping a box of laundry detergent in the washer. Overloaded by suds, the washer overflowed, sending soapy water onto the terrazzo floor all over the house, which was for sale.
By the time my mom noticed, water was flooding the hallway and spreading everywhere. With a broom and buckets of water, she swept and rinsed the entire house -- in time to show it to yet another potential buyer that afternoon.
The house smelled so clean, they bought it! We learned a valuable lesson: A clean house is easier to sell.
Especially in a soft real estate market, why not harness one of the simplest ways to put your best foot forward?
Here are some tips:
* The less you have in the house, the more spacious it appears. Since you´re planning to move anyway, unload all those needless extras cluttering your closets and living space. Get rid of, or pack, nicknacks that make it hard to dust and polish furniture and window sills. Pack appliances taking space on your kitchen counter tops. Put them in storage or in a spacious closet. Then give everything a thorough cleaning, dusting an/or polishing, so it sparkles.
* If you have carpeting, consider a thorough cleaning. Rent a machine or pay for a professional job. If carpeting still looks worn, you may need to offer a discount to help them pay for new carpeting of their choice. If you have tile, terrazzo, linoleum or wood floors, give it a good cleaning and polishing, if necessary.
