The Wii is Yours with New “Scarface” Game on Nintendo Wii Console (Best Offer)
|
Summary:
Tony Montana knows a thing or two about building an empire. That’s what makes the lackluster Wii version of “Scarface: The World Is Yours” even more disappointing. A thoroughly forgettable Nintendo Wii game, “Scarface” is sure to be buried in the sea of high-quality Wii titles announced for the upcoming year. Hopefully the last of a dying breed, “Scarface” is a classic example of a mediocre game making the jump to a new console and losing a lot in the translation. Find out why you might want to rent, instead of buy, this new Wii game in this short, insightful blog-style review. |
Details or Sample:
“Scarface: The World Is Yours” doesn’t live up to its name, merging a clunky control style with weak gameplay and ridiculous storytelling to produce a lackluster empire-building action game that’s guaranteed to gather dust on your shelf. The translation to the Nintendo Wii console doesn’t add anything to the game and the poor control system interferes with gameplay, making it one of the less successful Nintendo Wii ports so far.
“Scarface: The World Is Yours” picks up where the movie left off, with one small exception – Tony Montana, doesn’t die in a hail of gunfire, instead escaping with only his life, leaving his former empire in ruins and necessitating a video game sequel…
…There’s very little original material in “Scarface.” What wasn’t already covered in the movie has been beaten to death by countless GTA-knockoff games over the last few years. Players will cover the familiar ground of selling drugs, contesting gang territories, purchasing unlockables (called “Exotics” in this game) and generally pimping themselves out, Tony Montana style. Unfortunately one thing you can’t do is pimp yourself right out of the 1980’s…
The biggest problem with “Scarface: The World Is Yours” is probably the terrible transition from gamepad to Wii-Remote control styles. Indeed, critics agree that this is the single biggest problem with Wii ports this year, and it’s going to continue…
“Scarface” proves to be as underwhelming on the Nintendo Wii console as it was on all the others; an Xbox 360 version was scrapped but PS2, Xbox, PC and PSP versions of “Scarface” live on. Although the game certainly fills the “empire building” niche on the Nintendo Wii, it doesn’t fill that niche with any particular style, leaving no indication that “Scarface” is going to stay there for long. At the moment, it would seem, the Wii (and the World) may belong to Tony Montana, but being on top only makes “Scarface” an easy target.
