Details or Sample:
Alberta, Canada has many wonderful tourist locations and sites to see. The city of Edmonton, home of The Edmonton Oilers, is one of these must see locales. Best known for its hockey team, Edmonton has much more to offer in the way of entertainment. Home of the world’s largest mall, it’s a one stop spot for all your family fun.
West Edmonton Mall is like no other mall in existence. Taking up an equivalent of forty-eight city blocks it contains more than one hundred places to eat and eight hundred shops. Not to mention the nine attractions that work to ensure the mall its fame. Parking is available for more than twenty thousand vehicles and this fact has gained the mall a spot in the Guinness Book of World Records. Housing its own accommodations, The Fantasyland Hotel, there is no reason to leave.
One of the most popular attractions in West Edmonton Mall is the amusement park renamed Galaxyland in recent years. Galaxyland is home of the MindBender, a terrifying one minute roller coaster ride fourteen stories high with three complete loops sure to frighten the socks off the boldest of riders. Rides are available for all ages with a section for small children as well. Classic carnival games encourage tourists to win that one big prize as they pass by from ride to ride.
Just down the hall from Galaxyland is Kidtropolis, an interactive city designed just for kids. Kidtropolis allows children to go through the motions of working for the bank, serving ice cream and getting their driver’s license. Payment is a flat rate with a dollar or two added on per each extra hour. The kids will be begging to stay.
The World Waterpark is sure to entice any water lover. It is two and a half hectares in size with twenty-three slides reaching as high as twenty-six metres. There are three places for the children to play and three whirl pools as well as wheelchair access and concession. The Waterpark contains the only indoor bungee jump in existence. The World Waterpark is number ten in North American attendance.
The Santa Maria is an exact replica of Christopher Columbus’ ship, built in British Columbia. Transported to Edmonton in the 1980s, it is available in the mall for wedding receptions and other special function bookings. The nearby Deep Sea Adventure allows patrons to go under water in a submarine to view coral and sea life. The golf lover in the family will find happiness at the mini-golf course right around the corner from The Santa Maria. Rock star Alice Cooper has been known to enjoy a round when passing through Edmonton.
Though these attractions are the mall’s most well known, there is much more to do. West Edmonton Mall has its own casino and twenty-one movie theatres including Silver City. Silver City is the most popular movie theatre in the mall and is famous for the giant, robotic, fire breathing dragon attached to the ceiling of the lobby.
