During the practice of yoga, the mind is serene and self-reflective. The student gains insight into how their mind functions, and how it responds to outside stimulus.
Few people are aware that an unbalance in their mind and body causes great physical stress. An unbalanced mind and body can lead to injury and chronic pain. Yoga can reverse and prevent this unbalance and return the body to its harmonious state.
