A traveler´s guide to a kid-friendly Bahamas

So you´re going to The Bahamas for some R&R on the Bahamian island of Nassau. And - you´re taking the kids. Before you begin to worry about how you´re going to entertain them, rest assured that Nassau has many kid friendly activities to offer that are sure to appease even the shortest attention span. Perhaps the best thing about the kid friendly side of The Bahamas is that the activities are just as enjoyable by the adults as they are they kids! Ardastra Gardens and Zoo

Ardastra Gardens and Zoo first opened in 1937 as purely a luscious botanical garden designed by Jamaican horticulturist Hedley Vivian Edwards. Two decades later, flamingos became a popular attraction at the botanical gardens because of an effort by the Bahamian government to make the gardens their sanctuary to encourage breeding due to the dwindling numbers of the birds. Although the breeding program wasn´t very successful, the birds became a popular attraction because Mr. Edwards trained them to perform a march. This feat landed them a spot in a 1957 issue of National Geographic Magazine. The flamingos are now world famous and continue to perform their march today for zoo visitors!
