A Guide to Sunrooms
A sunroom adds a touch of the outdoors to any home, bringing nature to the inside, without the inclement weather, insects or outdoor noise to deter from your enjoyment of it. A sunroom may be built onto a new home, but often it is added to an existing home by the homeowners.
Sunrooms can be made out of a number of different materials and can be a variety of sizes, so the cost of adding a sunroom is highly variable, depending on those choices. Sunrooms will usually have window walls, however, and the roof is normally made of either glass or of panels insulated with foam.
There are sunrooms that are made with kits that the homeowners can install for themselves, sunrooms that are installed by a sunroom dealer or contractor, and sunrooms that you can actually purchase online. It is best to choose one that fits your budget and experience. If you have never built anything before this is probably not be a good project to begin with, and a contractor should be called to take care of the installation.
Adding a sunroom onto your home requires obtaining a building permit. There will be local regulations concerning the size, shape, and style that an addition may be, as well as regulations concerning where they can be built on your property.
