Making the Most of Getting Older

Summary:
People deal with aging differently, but it´s not scary when you have a relationship with the living God.
Details or Sample:
"The glory of young men is their strength: and the beauty of old men is the grey head." Proverbs 20:29

By CHERYL ROGERS

Everyone deals with aging in their own way.

Some celebrate with birthday parties and black balloons and hats and goofy gag gifts.

Some folks lie about their age, claim they are 39 and holding, or old enough to know better, or gratefully, they forget their age.

Some dye their hair to look younger, some travel the world, some keep working way past retirement age, or spend a lot of time complaining about their aches and pains.

I went out on a date with my husband the day before my 50th birthday. Though I didn´t plan it, it later occurred to me it wasn´t a bad idea to celebrate 49 while I still could...

Most people don´t like getting older. Yet it is part of life.

No doubt one of the reasons people don´t like old age is because they expect diminished strength and more health problems... I don´t know about you, but I don´t want to buy trouble by expecting poor health.

The Bible says: "by strength shall no man prevail," 1 Samuel 2:9, and "Wisdom is better than strength." Ecclesiastes 9:16

God tells us in both the Old and New Testaments that Jesus has paid the price our sins and our healing:

"with his stripes we are healed." Isaiah 53:5
"by whose stripes ye were healed." 1 Peter 2:24

That doesn´t mean I´m healed until I hit 60, 65, or even 70.
